Energo - tomatoes with large fruits, not tops!

Energo is not as popular as varieties and hybrids of large Moscow firms Gavrish and Aelita. Tomato was created by a Kirov-based company with the modest name of Agrosemtoms. Meanwhile, Energo is not inferior in yield to Dutch hybrids, and in taste to Russian varieties.

Description of tomato Energo

The Energo hybrid is officially registered as a breeding achievement, it has been listed in the State Register of Plants since 1996. The tomato is approved for cultivation in all light zones of Russia, it is considered one of the best in terms of adaptation to different climatic conditions. It perfectly tolerates temperature changes, is resistant to tobacco mosaic, cladosporium and fusarium.

Energo got this name for the intensive growth of the stem and fruits. His bush is semi-determinant: in greenhouses it grows up to 1.5–2 m, in open ground it is versatile, reaching a mark of 1 m. The ripening period of tomato is 110-115 days. Fruits are round, slightly flattened at the poles, red when fully ripe. The weight of one tomato is 120–140 g.

Energo fruits are bright red, flat-round, medium-sized

The pulp and skin are firm, with 4–5 seed chambers inside. The taste of tomatoes is excellent both fresh and preserved. Gardeners grow it mainly for pickling.

Unfortunately, there are no yield indicators either in the description from the State Register, or on the manufacturer's website. But on the bags with seeds from the author - Agrosemtoms, there are such figures: 25-27 kg / m², and with good care - up to 32 kg / m².

About the benefits of Energo, comparison with other tomatoes

The peculiarity of Energo is in its intermediate position between determinant and indeterminate tomatoes.

Comparative table of characteristics of tomatoes with different types of bush

Hence the high yield of Energo, especially in greenhouses. The bush grows tall, like an indeterminate tomato, and is literally all covered with fruit clusters, like a determinate one. The garden area is used efficiently.

It makes no sense to compare energy with indeterminate or determinant varieties and mushrooms. It is more productive than the Dutch Solerosso, the German Marusya and even the Chelyabinsk Maryina Grove. The listed tomatoes are suitable for pickling and salads, zoned for all regions of the Russian Federation, resistant to diseases, like Energo. Only the same semi-determinant tomatoes match this hybrid.

In the State Register, such varieties are most often described as determinant medium and tall.

Growing features

You should not rush to sow a semi-determinant tomato, sow seeds in the second half of March and even in its third decade. By the time of planting, there should be no flower brushes on the seedlings, otherwise the bush will end ahead of time, it will be low-yielding. Nothing is said about Energo's resistance to late blight, therefore, warm the soil for sowing in any way to 100 ° C, and rinse the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate.

The favorable temperature for germination is 22–25 ° C. Seedlings in the phase of 1–2 true leaves are cut into separate pots. A week after transplanting, start feeding the seedlings every 7-10 days with sodium humate (0.5 g of powder per 1 liter of water).

Plant tomatoes in a permanent place when stable heat comes: in open ground - in early June, in a greenhouse - in mid-May. If Energo stays at temperatures below +15 ° C for a long time, then its determinancy will appear, the bush will end, it will be low and low-yielding.

The layout for this hybrid is 60x60 cm or 40x70 cm. Before planting, spill the bed with a solution of potassium humate (25 ml 3% per 10 liters of water), drop a pinch (3 g) of superphosphate at the bottom of the holes. If flower brushes are still on the seedlings, remove them.

The formation of a flowering brush on the planted seedlings should not be allowed. The plant usually misses it, if the fruits are tied, then they are small or underdeveloped. If the seedlings have overgrown and the flowers have blossomed, it is better to remove the brush.

A week after planting, in order to prevent late blight, spray the bushes with a fungicide solution (Skor, Horus, HOM). In the flowering phase, for better fruit formation, shake the bushes sharply in the morning, you can treat it with Ovary or Bud.

Tomato Energo is prone to fruit formation to the detriment of the growth of shoots and roots. That is, there are many fruits, and the roots are weak, superficial, the volume of a clod of earth, from which they can take food, is small. Therefore, Energo needs to be watered and fed vigorously. Only with such care will you achieve the stunning yield that the author of the hybrid promised - 32 kg / m².

Hybrid Energo seeks to grow more fruits than shoots and leaves

Water the bushes every 2-3 days and abundantly. Feed with compound fertilizers every 7-10 days. Use ready-made mixtures for tomatoes (Fertika, Red Giant, Biohumus, etc.) or make a balanced top dressing yourself by dissolving in 10 liters of water: 20 g of ammonium nitrate, 30 g of potassium sulfate, 10 g of magnesium sulfate and 25 ml of potassium humate.

It is impossible to form Energy into 1 stem, because due to bad weather or improper care, it can end at any time. Always leave one spare stepchild or form into 2-3 stems. It is recommended to normalize the first 2 clusters in semi-determinant varieties and hybrids when grown in a greenhouse, leaving 3-4 of the largest ovaries in them. On each stem Energo manages to lay 3 brushes, in total on a bush - 6-9 or more, depending on the region of cultivation and weather.

You can also take care of Energo using a simple technology: plant it in open ground, do not feed it and do not even water it if it rains at least once a week. A hybrid without intensive care will grow into a short determinant bush. In this case, go to the first flower brush, and above leave as many brushes as they have time to ripen in your region - 2–5 pcs. All the rest, together with the stepsons on whom they are formed, remove. The bush, even if it has grown short, be sure to tie it up.

Review of tomato Energo

Energy can be grown outdoors with minimal maintenance, but then the harvest will be normal. To get the number of fruits per square meter declared by the manufacturer, plant the hybrid in a greenhouse, feed it vigorously and water it.

Description and characteristics of the variety

Tomato variety Seedless was developed on the basis of frost-resistant and soil varieties of the breeder from Russia Pavel Saraev. It is recommended for cultivation in the southern and central regions of the Russian Federation, in Moldova and Ukraine. Also, the variety can be grown in areas of risky farming. According to gardeners' reviews, a good harvest of Seedling tomatoes was obtained in Komi, Karelia, Primorye, Siberia, the Urals, as well as in the northwestern regions of the Russian Federation.

  • A variety, not a hybrid. Self-collected seeds are suitable for further cultivation.
  • Ultra-ripe. The first ripe fruits appear 78 days after germination.
  • Standard bushes. They do not require pinning and garters to the supports.
  • Determinant, grows up to 50 cm in height and stops growing on its own after the formation of 5–6 flower clusters.
  • The root system develops in depth.
  • Average foliage, low-branched bush.
  • The first flower cluster is formed over 6-7 leaves. 6-8 fruits ripen on each cluster.
  • Can be cultivated in open and closed ground.
  • Not picky about watering.
  • Productivity - 8 kg per square meter.
  • Resistant to most nightshade diseases, especially late blight.

Features of growing and caring for a variety

In order for a variety to fully reveal its varietal qualities, it must be constantly cared for. The area set aside for growing this tomato should be sunny. Harvesting large and tasty tomatoes begins with growing seedlings.

  1. Purchase seeds, and they must be from a well-known company and purchased in a specialized store.
  2. Seedlings start growing in early March.
  3. The seeds are laid out in a common container filled with nutritious and loose soil, moistened and covered with transparent glass.
  4. After most of the seeds have sprouted, the shelter is removed and the seedlings are grown until two true leaf plates appear on it.
  5. At this moment, she is made a pick with a simultaneous transplant of 200 grams. cups.
  6. When the seedlings have grown and are ready to move to their permanent place, they need to be hardened.
  7. To prevent huge bushes from crowding each other during cultivation, they are planted according to the 50x70 cm scheme.
  8. Simultaneously with the seedling, a stake is stuck, which will serve as a support for the bush, since it grows quickly and reaches a mark of 2 m.
  9. When cultivated, a tomato bush of this variety is grown in 2 stems, forming the second of the stepson above the first cluster of fruits.
  10. The number of brushes is also limited to 8 pieces, the rest are removed by pinching.
  11. Top dressing of large bushes is carried out three times a season with appropriate fertilizers.
  12. Watering the bushes is required every three days with warm, settled water.
  13. To combat various fungal diseases, the lower leaves are removed before ripening fruits, and the soil in the garden is mulched.

IMPORTANT! When cultivating this variety, adhere to these rules, and then the harvest will delight the gardener

The timing of planting seeds for seedlings

The timing of sowing seeds differs depending on the region of cultivation and the place of tomato planting. The date is calculated from the fact that the seedlings at 65 days of age are ready to be transplanted to their permanent place, be it open ground or a greenhouse.

Reviews of the Sweet Million

This year I planted cherry tomatoes Sweet million. I saw these seeds at the Crossroads for only 8 rubles and could not resist. The seeds sprouted very quickly and amicably, there were an awful lot of seedlings, so I gave almost all of it, left a couple of them for myself - to see what came out. The bush grew very high - about 2 meters. It looks more like some kind of vine. The branches are thin, crawl to neighboring plants and cling to them, small tomatoes are located on the branches. I love cherry, but in general this variety is not for everybody's taste, because not everyone likes to tinker with these "peas". Such tomatoes can be prepared for the winter, and I freeze them whole - very convenient.

Marit johansen

Tomato Sweet million has good germination capacity, harmonious return of the crop. Sweet, good both fresh and prepared. Small canned cherry tomatoes will decorate any ready-made dish.

I read reviews on the Internet about wonderful cherry tomatoes, beautiful and tasty. I purposefully looked for the seeds of these tomatoes to plant. The packaging impressed, the picture was pleasing to the eye ... As a result: huge whips grew, with abundant flowering, very scanty bunches appeared, on which pea-sized tomatoes hang, I do not underestimate, though peas are smaller than quiche grapes. Despite good germination and growth, the result was disappointing. I don’t know what to sin on, perhaps the heat, which was in the Kuban this year, had an effect, but the tomatoes burst for some reason, watering was moderate, the bushes did not flood. And what did not burst, did not please with the taste.

Video feedback on growing tomato Sweet million in buckets

Sweet million is a cherry-type tomato variety, which differs from other small-fruited tomatoes by the amicable ripening of fruits. However, the unlimited growth of the bush requires not only its formation, but also regular fertilization. Without top dressing, the fruits will be so small that they will not resemble "cherry" (cherry) in size, but peas.
